Aegis Energy, a Dalkia company, and a subsidiary of Group EDF, is a local cogeneration/utility company and we are growing!
We are currently looking for an experienced Purchasing & Material Control Specialist to work in our Operations Department of our Holyoke headquarters. This first shift, M-F position is approximately 50% supply chain management, and 50% inventory control. The right candidate must have a demonstrated ability to work autonomously with attention to detail, possess strong inter-personal and computer skills, and the ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with our supply base.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, freight companies, etc.
- Collaborate with all departments to satisfy the supply chain needs of the company as a whole
- Champion the production, after-market, and finished product inventory system (IE: kanban, lean, just-in-time, etc)
- Responsible for routing of all material in the facility
- Assist with production planning by ensuring all necessary work instructions and material are ready for each unit
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for owned processes
- Occasional day travel to supplier sites and remote storage facilities may be required (up to 10%)
- Overtime (over 40 hours) as required
Required Qualifications:
- HS Diploma/GED
- Documented success in supply chain management or purchasing
- Experience using a formal inventory control process (IE: Kanban, Lean, just-in-time)
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer software (IE: MS Excel/Sage)
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve complex logistical problems
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work across multiple functions and to communicate effectively through various media
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Possess excellent driving record and pass initial and random drug testing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, or military experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of software families: ERP/MRP/CRM
- Developing processes and writing procedures
- Continuous improvement certification/training (Six Sigma or equivalent)
- Quality Assurance System experience
- Working knowledge of Safety/OSHA compliance
