Anchin Construction & Development Forum: The Takeaways

If you’ve read any of our recent blogs, you know that in addition to being a leader in emerging technology—CHP—we also pride ourselves on being at the forefront of legislative updates that could affect the energy market and our customers. Last month, our blog focused on New York City, and this month, our travels took us there—to the Anchin Construction and Development Forum, more specifically.

The event, in its 4th year, is slated as the “#1 construction and development event in the Northeast”, and now, having attended, we understand how it earned this distinction.

The Takeaways

  1. There’s no escaping change

We heard a thought echoed throughout the event, perhaps most memorably from Ali Chaudry, the Deputy Secretary for Transportation, and Marc Holliday, CEO of SL Green, one of New York City’s largest owners of commercial office properties: there is no escaping change.

This sentiment affirmed our resolve to stay current on policy, technology and service offerings to enable us to suggest and implement solutions that meet our customer’s needs, are energy-efficient while meeting policy mandates, and to keep us abreast of all available financing to allow us to pass that savings along to our customers.

  1. Start planning, smart planning

By 2040, New York City will be home to 9 million residents. The infrastructure will have to go to new heights—buildings and power supplies—to accommodate this influx of people and power draw. CHP has been identified as a viable solution for large office buildings (meeting energy demand) while offering cost-savings to those managing the properties. As a result, CHP systems are a popular choice for new construction and many redevelopment projects throughout the City.

  1. Translating challenges into opportunities

As the City continues to impose new standards across the gamut from restaurant grading to energy-efficiency, facility managers will need to make the necessary changes to remain in compliance. Such mandates may seem daunting, but the team at Aegis is committed to cutting through the red tape to better inform our customers.

To you, the reader, we hope you’ll take our takeaways to heart. When it comes to the energy market, you can’t escape change, so we urge you to embrace it. We have the knowledge and know-how to help you start smart planning for your facility. Contact us today to begin translating challenges into opportunities. We think you’ll be glad you did.
